Dear Anorexia,Before we met,

Dear Anorexia,

Before we met, my favorite color was blue.

What once resembled the shade of the ocean and sky,

Became a reminder of all that I had been through:

An endless attempt to grasp some fleeting substance flowing by.

The blue of dusk that inspired awe

Presented itself in the spaces beneath my eyes

That seemed to draw

The warmth from my elaborate disguise.

The shade of deep rivers

Flowed through my skin

When my body seized with shivers

As my figure proved far too thin.

Now, when we part, my favorite color is green;

A promise of growth and life

That, for three and a half years, I have not seen.

So, I hope to abandon my strife

Just as nature replaces the shade of wintry decay with an emerald sheen.
