DEAR LUST,

Wed, 12/20/2017 - 16:08 -- madi2.0

i see that smirk

spreading on your lips

and i'm staring at you

with a similar smirk

as i tell you that

you know nothing.

you "own" nothing.

your smirk was triumphant when you told me

you had seen her naked

and you thought you were right

because you had taken her clothes off.

now i am watching as your smirk falls

when i ask you about her passions

what makes her dream?

better yet tell me what breaks her heart

and makes her cry

tell me a story of her that you aren't in.

and now your smirk is gone

because i've reminded you that

you may have seen her skin

and touched her body

but you still only know as much about her

as you know about a book you found once

but never got around to reading.

This poem is about:
Our world
