Dear Mr. Teacher

I did not come here to watch chalk dust collect on that blackboard.

I did not come here to watch you watch us watch a video about something you can't explain.

I did not come here to memorize the quadratic formula.

I did not come here for you to talk at me.

I did not come here for you to be shocked when I can't get something right.

"But I taught it!"

Guess not.

I did not come here to be defined by a number on a 4.0 scale.

I did not come here for you to tell me why it's wrong, but not how to fix it.

I came here to mature.

I came here to clear some of the haze that is blocking my view of my future.

I came here to grow my very own opinions.

I came here to figure out how to express my ideas.

I came here to become a whole, functioning human being.

I do not need you to teach me, I need you to show me how to learn.
