The Death of Childhood

They say I’m just a part of life

They say they miss me but yet let me die

I only wish one would not just remember

I only wish one would care enough to let me live

I let your imagination run wild

I let your mind see the magic

I gave you insight to the world

I gave you the beginnings of who you are

Yet you say you must grow up now

You say you must leave me behind

You say you cannot bring me with you

You say I’m just short period of time

I’m gone now and you say you miss me

I’m gone now but yet you live on

I’m dead yet you’re alive without me

Was my whole life just a lie?
