Destined for Greatness

There's nothing you can say to stop my dreams
There's nothing you can do to refute my claims
You can talk all you want
You can say it's not true
Your opinions won't stop me
Because I AM destined for greatness

If you take nothing else from me - know this:
You may not want to America,
But you will remember me.
You will remember me because I will succeed.
I will overcome the stereotypes of the color of my skin.
I will show you what it truly means to be a beautiful, young, independent black woman.
I will graduate high school and college
And go beyond your expectations.
This statistic will show you her intelligence and her patience
Because she is destined for greatness.

My dreams will be realized
My goals achieved
My reason - determination
Accomplishment is motivation
I will fail. I will succeed
But America please tell your subjects that their boxes won't hold me.
Their chains of oppression cannot stop what is destined
for me and my fellow young men and women.

You can talk all you want.
Turn your nose up and frown
But you have no say in what I will do
In who I am
So please cut the hatred
And stay in yo place fam.

Your place is to be helpful to the people in need
Your place is to be united for all the world to see
Your place is to be equal, fair, and just
Yet why do your people look at each other with disgust?

"America the Great"
To me that statement is untrue
There can never be great
Until we as a nation learn to communicate.
Get rid of these chains that oppress the land of the brave.
Lies, negativity, and especially hate.
Maybe spread words of love
And shout to the nations and all the above
That everyone with that spark of innovation
Can achieve many things and be destined for greatness.
