Different Reflections

Location

Some days, the mirror showed me happy

But to my friends, I showed no sign

On others, it showed me falling down

Outwardly, I claimed "I'm fine."

Every day, another mask

Slipped onto my tired face

But my reflection showed who I really was

A runner tired of his race

For years and years the masks lived on

Until she found my face

Her beauty pierced my fading smile

And she shared with me her grace

Thanks to her, the masks are gone

My smile is here to stay

My mirror and I now look the same

I wear no masks this day
