Dirt and Sky

Who determined the criteria for a beautiful day? Who announced that the sun was superior to showers of pittering, pattering wet drops? Who convinced society that it was mandatory to rip weeds from their complacent state? This weed- whose brothers I have all torn from the ground, The one leisurely crawling through a bed of contaminated soil, The one slowly reaching its pale limbs towards the radiant sun, Who has no intention of causing me, or you any distress, Who is so innocently amused by only its simple world of dirt and sky. Now, however, it has become so overjoyed with the world That it yearns for new land, beyond its needs Now, just as I, It becomes acquainted with a constant desire Now it sees its simple world with many flaws, he has many flaws I cannot tell you why we determined the sun to be superior to rain I cannot tell you why we determine fate due to appearances I can tell you that humans do not differ far from this weed that all gardeners loath so After all, how long where you amused by your world of dirt and sky?
