Dissolve

I love you.

The words slip from my lips with confidence

I wait for them to be echoed

But I am met with silence and regret

He turns away without uttering a word

It is as if my words were never said.

Am I not beautiful?

Am I too small?

Are my feelings too strong?

All of my confidence dissolves

Maybe if I were just a little bit bigger with more curves instead of being this stick figure…

I know he would like me then.

No one wants a girl just a little bit over paper thin.

I'll gain weight so that I will have thighs and a rounder backside.

Contacts too so these glasses won’t cover my eyes.

I can be beautiful…

And he’ll love me then.
