The Distance
Locations
She
like a shamed, young child
carried
her belongings down the corridor, to the jet that would take her to the city
of strange faces.
My
tongue struggled to form the words of farewell,
heart
afraid to release what was held on to for six years.
With
departing love came endless streams of tears, of which she had never seen
of me before.
Her
perfume still teases my nostrils, her smile like a film trilogy replaying in my collapsing
memory...
To
forget would bring a massive, black hole to form inside me, in the heart of a man
she once loved; the man who had rescued her from the embers of a plane crash, going
from LA to
Denver.
