Do Not Stay.

Location

The first time you meet a boy

Hold his hand, kiss his cheek, and fall in love.

When he tells you that you are the only reason he has not killed himself,

Do not stay.

The first time he tries to commit suicide,

Whether by pills or blade, it will be scary.

But he is not a toy, you cannot fix him.

He is not a princess, he cannot be saved.

Do not stay.

The first time he accuses you of cheating on him,

Of being too friendly with the waiter, of sleeping around,

Do not raise your voice; do not make excuses for him.

Do not stay.

The first time he lays his hand on you in a way that is not loving

Do not hit back, Break his fingers instead.

Do not kiss the one that is tearing you down.

Do not stay.

The first time he goes after your self-esteem,

Do not falter. Do not believe him.

Do not let him put poison into your head.

Do not stay.

The first time he tries to keep you away from your mother.

Do not let him. For she is getting older and she will be gone too soon.

Do not let him tear your family apart.

Do not stay.

When he comes up to you and says he loves you

While tearing down every single piece of you

Do not let him.

Do not stay.

Him telling you that you are the only reason he is still alive,

The only reason he has not split open his wrists,

Is not charming.

Do not stay.

Do not stay with someone when they make it hard to look yourself in the eye

Do not stay with someone who uses emotions to manipulate you.

Do not stay with someone that makes you hate who you’ve become.

Do not stay with someone who tells you that if you leave, they will commit suicide.

Do not stay.
