Duet

And tonight

I should be with you

Humming harmonies

To the sweet melody of your mind

And listening to the chorus of your heart.

Before you

I never knew such sweet music could exist

But you were the one song that I felt confident

Belting in the car

Even when the other four seats were filled.

I didn’t care when my voice cracked

Or if I was horribly off-key.

My perfect song doesn’t play anymore

And the silence is deafening.
