East Coast Bubble

Fri, 12/30/2016 - 23:35 -- VROBLE

Girl in her own city’s bubble

Filled with In-N-Out and beaches

Finally breaks free

To see a whole new side

Of the world

That has its own bubble

In which Obama lives

And Lincoln sits

And people commemorate those

Who fought for our country

Their names written on a black wall

She walks down M street

With other students she’s just met

Hoping to call them friends

From bubbles around the world

Where they say “mad” instead of “hella”

And wear jeans instead of shorts

And have snow days

And explore the Newseum

And watch the Nats game

She observes the fast-paced nature

Of the people

In this bubble

She runs

Almost becoming one of them
