An era to end mere watching

There I stood. Tragically transfixed in cowardice, trembling in fear, no voice of my own, so afraid to speak out I took to writing this poem
Because as I watched the children scream in the flames of burning buildings, women raped openly in the streets, I did nothing but stare at the savage heathens who mutilated no true conquest in mind, except for them wanting to feel complete
They wanted to be kings of a nation, but they oppressed and killed. I am no better, I said nothing in protest as if the knife is in my hand innocent blood I have spilt
There I stood. Perpetually paralyzed in a stupor worse than hell, because these images are etched in my brain, emotion drawn forth as if it were MY pain
kids screaming, defiant, so much more courage than me, and I stood there and watched the explicit horror on my TV
But I can never imagine being a victim of war, forced to kill or if not BANG, A bullet to your head you exist no more
A country in turmoil cannot stand but why should I worry, that is not my country, I know no one there I can turn off the TV, POOF,and the problem has disappeared into thin air that is the mantra of the first world because we are sperated by seas, the ills that plague their world is not our disease
But this time do not sit idle I beg, if humans we are, then humans we Shall be lending a hand in humanity
