Eve

Silence
Disrupted
The lap of waves
The cry of a gull
Passing over
Alien forms
Formless featherless things
Naught but ripples
in a sea of concrete
A lone girl sits
comfortably crowded
On one side
The sweet rot of garbage
pooled in a green dumpster
On the other
The abyss
Swirling in browns and blues
A horse shoe crab scuttles
with scrawny legs
Pushing against the
shore submerge
Escaping to a place unseen
over
up
and forward
Wading through oil spill colors
as the sun bleeds out
the dying pains
of the

day
