every student

Everystudent by Destani Jewett
Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away,
Lived a creature, Everystudent was its name.
Now the people in this kingdom cared for none else,
Unless your status was, that is, the Educatedwealth.
Now the creature wasn’t liked nor hated too.
But in order to be noticed it knew what to do.
It went to the man known as Highereducation.
And asked for help and proper stimulation.
The man merely laughed and said to do this task,
One must travel once a day to the land of college and city of class.
Now once in class find a man called Hardwork,
But beware for Procrastination waits at the roads fork.
He is a peddler of this such as snake oil and mere,
He will say that they help for what you looking for.
Don’t stop a moment for if you do,
Hardwork will no longer wait for you.
And all the effort you put into becoming Educatedwealth,
Will be wasted time and nothing else.
Now that you’ve been warned of the dangers ahead,
I wish you good luck and I’m off to bed.
Oh and one more thing before you go,
Four years from now I feel you should know,
Come back to this place and there shall be
A proof of status called a degree.
Ill give it to you to show the kingdom,
And then you will have all of their freedom
So Everystudent did just as it was told,
He went to college and found Hardworks home,
Hardwork helped teach him things about the world,
Math and history even the origins of pearls.
Everyday Procrastination waited for the creature to come,
Showing it trinkets and nicnacs and some device called a phone.
Every day he tried to distract it from its goal,
but Everystudent tried hard not to have to pay the toll.
One day he had games it could play,
He had a warm comfy bed on one cold winter day,
But nothing Procrastination could do,
Could keep everystudent from getting through.
So one day out of sheer desperation,
The path was completely blocked by procrastination.
When Everystudent came walking down that road,
“why block it with your load?
Im going to be late and will not pass my test.”

“Too easy,” said Procrastination in his head.
“Why do you go to hardwork to learn what you need?
The smart way is the easy way and that’s how it should be.
I have a device here its what will help,
It gives all the answers and can be held.”
He pulled out a phone that connects to the web
He told Everystudent to test it and here’s what he said,
“No I won’t test it I’ve been here long enough,
All you do is slow me down, now move all this stuff.
Sure your items are all so much fun and temping, no lie,
But I need to do what I need to do before I’ll buy.
I’ll play your games after I earn my degree.
It’ll be more fun then and I’m sure you’ll agree.
No one will worry about Hardwork waiting,
And I will be capable of joyfully playing.
Now I’ll ask you once again to move your cart,
Or if you want ill tear it apart.”
He thought a moment and moved aside.
And Everystudent kept his stride.
He missed only a little that day from Hardworks lesson,
But his endurance and smarts never did lessen.
Procrastination never bothered again out of fear.
Every student went back to the city every day for four years
And finally that degree was all his
the kingdom loved him and all that he’d done.
And He’d done it on his own, no distractions at all
So he lived happily ever after after all.
