Eve's Affliction

Mon, 03/04/2019 - 19:55 -- Darshni

The stars evade my glance

I find myself caught up in a trance

Have they crossed me all too quickly?

A fool’s wish and a martyr’s greatest desire

To be caught in the burning sun’s fire

I look at her and ultimately know that she is beyond my grasp

For she and I are splintering glass

She enthralls me into a steady submission

I cannot help but wonder if cognition has failed

To love another women in this time and place

Is fatal if caught up in the chase

If to be discovered with her as my lover

My wistful sorrows will uncover me
