Expectation

Sun, 02/05/2017 - 16:26 -- R1tter

"You must do well."

But why?

"You have to.

You have to fight, you have to climb, no matter how rusted the latter is.

"You have to do better than me."

"You have to outshine the others."

But what if I don't. Rather, what if I can't.
Excelling can't be expected.

You can't demand someone be better. You can't demand yourself to do more than you can.

Reaching for that bar, set high above, is a death in itself.

As you hope to do more, but cannot.

They say comparison kills, but expectation slaughters.
