Eyes

Location

They see the world around us.
the pain, the hurt, the grief.
They see all the injustice
that victims must endure.
The agony people suffer,
and who no longer wish for life.

They see the hurt in people’s faces,
Who have never known of love.
The mother who lost a child,
whose pain eclipses all.
They see beyond the façade
of people’s smiling faces.

And when they look at
true beauty, they second guess
it all. What do my eyes see today?
A dying world, void of true happiness?
Or a world teetering at the edge of hope,
Longing for a fill in the void
to set it free?
Yes, today my dear
That is what my eyes see.
