Eyes Wide Open

2016 a year with eyes wide open

To a world, where things are cloaked, covered, and unspoken.

This year, full of fear, where humans are bought and sold like meat

Whose eyes of compassion, we'll never see.

Yet tormented and drugged, beaten and stolen

With hope at a loss and fear at its height

There's no rescuing or discovering for this lost one in sight.

And yet, there are people, and places, who are looking and seeking

For these lost ones, these downtrodden people forgotten

They will be discovered, they will be brought clean.

Through redemption and grace a light shines in the darkness

A chance for recovery and hope for the smallest

A victim no more, but a new born embrace.

For that wandering child in a broad open place.
