It really doesn’t hurt,

But yes, I know my weight.

I see the way I look,

And I see you looking too.

It really doesn’t hurt,

Besides, even I make jokes,

My odd shape is comedy gold,

See, don’t I look happy?

It really doesn’t hurt,

It’s my own fault anyways,

It’s not like cancer,

I did it to myself.

No sympathy deserved.

It really doesn’t hurt,

But do you hear me when I speak?

Or does the gravity of my body,

Just pull my words away?

It really doesn’t hurt

My giddy tears of joy,

Drip acid where they fall.

Crying and laughing,

How similar they sound?

It really doesn’t hurt,

But I’m more then just pure fat,

I have thoughts and dreams and love,

There’s a person buried beneath me.

It really doesn’t hurt,

But you may not discount me.

What I am too afraid to say,

I will burn into your heart with words.

My lips too weak to call your crimes,

But you will listen when I speak in rhymes!

My dignity is not your toy,

And I have a right to enjoy,

The freedom of expression,

The freedom to be heard,

And you may not omit,

The power of my words.

But it really doesn’t hurt.
