Fall In Love With Yourself
Location
People have gone on and on for so long,
That they love their things and the people in their lives.
If you ask them to describe the things the love about others,
The list never ends.
But if you turn it around and ask what they love about themselves…
They get uncomfortable.
They fidget with their hands and look down at the ground
It takes them minutes to give an answer
If they give one at all.
This is a problem, and we don’t get that.
War, poverty, unemployment now those are problems,
Not the lack of love we have for ourselves.
How is that a problem?
You see, how can others love you if you do not love yourself?
If you do not love yourself you do not fully understand yourself
And therefore, no one will fully understand you either.
People tell us all the time
That they love us and we are beautiful
And they shower us with compliments
But how many do we actually believe?
You see, you’ve got to fall in love with yourself.
Look yourself in the eyes and fully understand the person staring back at you.
Easier said than done.
It is possible.
It is possible to believe the compliments and it is possible to love who you are.
It is possible to take yourself out on dates,
It is possible to love every quirk and imperfection
You possess because although they may be similar
To someone else’s they are uniquely yours.
No one is perfect, but we are all uniquely imperfectly perfect.
Embrace the truth
That we cannot be what we fantasize
But we are amazing.
And if we could just understand that, and know what that means,
We could be happier.
And isn’t that what so many of us want.
We question why we aren’t happy,
But we don’t question why we cannot look at ourselves in the mirror.
What if they are interrelated?
To be fully happy is to love yourself,
Does it really sound that crazy?
