falling apart

the cold did not burn as she froze

but she wrapped herself in blankets

to thaw herself

as the rivulets ran down her thighs

she sighed

“warmth at last”

but from her cocoon she found

everything blurred and

muffled so

she unwound herself from her nest

and in doing so

she unwound herself

laying in strands upon the floor

detached from her selves

she sighed

for the floor was cold

and she thought

“numb at last”

for the cold did not burn as she froze
