Families

Salty drops, that are so called tears,

Police men, that are so called friends,

Families being split up by deportation again.

The young ones cry with fear of the present,

The older ones cry with fear of the future,

They risk it all for a better tomorrow,

And yet sometimes they are still considered just a creature.

Mom is in handcuffs, brother is too,

I feel so alone, what do I do?

Salty drops; those things called tears,

Are running crazy like when there’s a premier,

Police men; say they are here to help,

Then why do they take my parents as I yelp?

I learn to adjust and continue succeeding,

With the support of teachers and my leading,

Suddenly realizing what I’ve become, leads me to tell you:

No matter what happens, continue your path until you feel numb.

Sometimes plans change and that is fine, just remember to stay true and you’ll be fine.
