Do Not Let My Heart Grow Cold.

Do not let my heart grow cold.

For I will become a cynic,

and bitter to the core.

Kind words will choke me,

for I cannot say them.

I will push every human away

for my own selfish reasons,

hurting both them and myself.

One touch and I will freeze their hearts like mine.

Do not let my heart grow cold.

Thaw it by the fire,

so others may see and know

they may come to me for a blanket of comfort,

a warm cup of remarks,

and I will tend to them

with all the love and sincerity I can bare.

So the fire inside my heart will grow,

and spread through others.
