Festival of Lights

This very year
Eid did not arrive
and Muharram never ceased
Diwali is here in all its glory
and the darkness yet dwells.

Friends bothered not to care,
stayed silent, unlike the old days.
How does one celebrate
with millions caged on my name?
For the truth to be celebrated,
let there be the light of emancipation
fired by the diyas of today.

asato mā sadgamaya
tamasomā jyotir gamaya
mrityormāamritam gamaya
Oṁ śhānti śhānti śhāntiḥ

Happy Diwali
