Finding the Light

Every day has its ups and downs

Every person has their smiles and frowns

Though sometimes it’s hard to see the light

In the darkness and the dead of night

Joy can be found in every place

From the deepest ocean, to outer space

You just have to open your eyes and see

How wonderful the world can be

Like a bright flower on a rainy day

Or a few kind words a friend might say

The feeling of sunshine warming your face

Children laughing in a friendly chase

A breath of fresh air on a cool autumn night

A loving embrace, someone holding you tight

Small miracles make this world go round

If you look, they are not far to be found

The light is all around us, you just have to see

The bright sparks of joy and curiosity

Even a glimpse, the briefest of sight

Enlivens the day, just by finding the light
