Flawless In A World Of Lies

They say there's no such thing as perfect

But I happen to know that talk is cheap

Flawless is the best thing to be

To be who I am I must accept who I am

Flawless is just an act that lays beneath

I'm proud to say that I have gone deep

And lifted up what belongs to me

I haven't shown myself to be a fraudulent personality

Or a Barbie made to set an unacceptable image for myself

No mama didn't raise a doll but a lady

So I won't claim myself to be anything less than

In the words of Madam C.J Walker,

"I am not ashamed of my past, I am not ashamed of my humble beginnings."

I'm proud to be all that I was made to be

And I know that I am imperfectly flawless

The love that I have in my mind and heart

Conquers all of my insecurities

I am who I am and there's no way around it

In the eyes of the world I may not fit an image of flawless

But regardless of the mask that I'm offered

I will not hide in the dark

For everything flawless is anything good

And I know that what I sow I shall reap

In this imperfect world of lies
