Forever In Hiding

Location

Filters.
The creation of our comfort.
What we use to hide,
All the flaws we see inside.

Insecurity.
Masked by a film of tilted perfection.
Painted nails,
Coated face,
Model body,
And expensive taste.
Weighted by a crooked grin,
Embarrassment tucked in the crevices of our teeth.

Denial.
Forceful cures;
Xanax,
Joints,
Blurred reality,
Thank you, Mr. Jack Daniels,
We appreciate your contribution.

Mother always said,
"The biggest liar is your mind."
Words so wise,
Though demons shine like justice,
As if birds were pecking at my brain.
Those wounds must be bandaged,
Through any remedy,
Temporary satisfaction.

Society is obsessed with a quick-fix,
filter
This poem is about:
Our world
