The Friend Who Will Never Leave

He is an unmatchable mutt, I do believe.

He causes chaos with all his snooping.

The friend who will never leave.

During the cool months when colors reave

He romps about in a shower of red and gold leaves looping

He is an unmatchable mutt, I do believe.

When the swirling flakes dance through the air and weave

He lies at my feet with deep brown eyes drooping

The friend who will never leave.

Birds singing from the trees when the green returns in a vibrant perceive

He welcomes the warmer weather by giving the yard a grand swooping

He is an unmatchable mutt, I do believe.

When the days are endless and the sun cleaves

He seeks an adventure with tail curled and nose to the ground snooping

The friend who will never leave.

The years and seasons pass and we both change, though we disbelieve,

But together we will ever be, puppy and child, we make a magnificent grouping.

He is an unmatchable mutt, I do believe

The friend who will never leave.
