Friends?

A strange idea that’s never crossed my mind before

    I need help

   I need someone

   I can’t do this alone

But there’s no one out there waiting for me

     No companions

     No one watching

No one asking if I’m hurting

All my life I’ve read books of wonders and magic

Magic is real, like sprouted from a childhood dream

But are those stories’ friendships real too?

Bonds never broken; my life’s ragtag team?

I think not, or at least not for me.

Magic is real, but those perfect, happy allies

That

Was the fantasy
