Johnny T. loves Lucy C.
Her 'About Me' on Facebook has his head spinning
Despite their corresponding class schedules
They have never had a conversation
Outside of the comfort of cyberspace

They chat
They flirt
They connect
Across the confines of the world-wide web

But across the halls
They don't make eye contact
They don't talk
They don't acknowledge

Without the safety of the screen
And the warmth of the keyboard
They are naked
They are vulnerable
They are real
Real, yet inadequate

Speaking is scary
Body language is confusing
The real world is too daunting
So they curl up into their cell phones
And live a pixelated life which society deems okay
