Giants in Peril

Thu, 02/07/2019 - 21:44 -- LucBay

These giants stand out on the great African Plains

But too often their motionless bodies lie on the ground surrounded by stains

Not taken for food they rot in the dust

Only struck down for the use of their tusk

These giants stand out on the great African Plains

But they rapidly disappear causing many suffering and pains

Why are their tusks in demand so far away

That locals would risk their extinction today

These giants stand out on the great African Plains

But without drastic change, the mighty elephant will see no gains

Friends of the beast come from far off lands

Bringing resources to extend helping hands

These giants stand out on the great African Plains

But the specie has suffered so much strains

Governments pass laws to end the slaughter

But if it doesn’t change now, what I am going to tell my future daughter
