The Giggle on The End of the Line

The telephone wires shake with laughter.

While she is far away

she has never been closer.

She laughs with a vigor

invisible in sight

but joyous in sight.

She is an invisible smile,

blindly traversing the state lines,

the broken highways,

the dark nights.

My sister is a giggle on the end of the line.

I am the giggle back.
