That Girl

Location

Swayed by their emotions running to pick up others

But when she falls apart who picks her up?

Then crying at night for pity and understanding

When she doesn’t even know herself. This girl tries to look in the mirror.

But can’t see past the stream of tears running down her eyes.

            Now taking a deep breath one… two… three…

Thinking about the past has always been difficult

A pain in her heart takes her breath away every time

But this woman has learned to cope with it

That pain she has claimed “mine”

            Now she walks in confidence

For the girl who walked with her head down.

Takes chances the girl hesitated to take.

Laughs out loud with a bright smile that is no longer fake.

That girl has now embraced who she is and become a woman today.
