The Girl Speaks of Wars

I've known wars

Not the war outside the U.S.

The wars inside the U.S.

The war for education

The war for immigration

I see the neglect and abuse

I hear the screams behind that door

I listen to the cries

I aspire for a better life

I accumulate anger inside

Women have always been in combat

Women are drafted into this war

I fight this war

But your soul is the biggest war of them all

I am at war with myself
