The Giving Tree

Location

It stands alone,

Tall and strong,

Always able to get along,

Yet so soft and sweet,

So from it you eat,

To taste the juices is a treat,

For nourishment and truth,

You steal its youth,

You take and take,

With no giving back,

Not even a drop of water to fill your tracks.

As long as you’re satisfied it’s okay,

You don’t even notice its begun to turn grey,

So you pick a fruit that is bitter and thorn,

Venom spilling from it like a bad storm,

So you flee and hide,

Because you don’t want people to the secrets that lay inside,

Abandoned and bruised,

It starts to lose all of its beauty and power,

Like a flower drowned in rain shower,

You’ll need it again but it’ll be gone,

Like a house blown away after a Tornado,

It was ripped from its roots,

Because you never gave it the love and care that it took.
