Hail Mary, full of grace

Keep me safe in your embrace

When did life become this race

of who could wear the shortest skirts

and tightest shirts

and still be a virgin, chaste

Like you?

Amazing Grace

How sweet the sound

that condemned a wretch like me

Whose holy words

Left mine unheard

as though this were a travesty

That bore the cross

on my breast embossed

a red A for adultery

Our father, who art in heaven

I know I’m already seventeen

but Lord I just can’t understand why my mother’s so ashamed of me

Why the only thing that she can see

is not the love, or joy I felt, but the disgrace I brought on our family.

Why my friends look at me like an amputee

As if my virginity was a limb, now severed and lost

Why there’s an asterisk when they talk to me

the footnote reading “you slut”

Why boys don’t seem to think I’m easy,

but hold only a less severe disdain

Why no one stood by me, but instead erected “Do not enter” signs,

closed their pearly gates

and made our once mutual friendships into one-way streets

For there is no water holy enough to wash me clean of these sins

No martyr who can save me, Oh

Hail Mary, full of Grace

Hail Mary, full of Grace

Hail Mary, full of Grace

Why my father looks at me so judgmentally

his deflowered little girl, Lucy

Where did we go wrong?

He asks.

And I don’t have to ask to know that I’m the mistake he’s talking about

Lord knows my parents never made love so consciously.

Dear Father, hear this:

When I had sex for the first time, I was not deflowered

I was reborn.

I hope you see this. Your poem rocks my spirit. I hope you know that you are not a mistake nor a burden. Your body is yours. You can do with it whatever you choose. Just please just love it, it is you. Never subject yourself to someone else's judgment. Be true to you. I am Christian, but my God never looked down on you with contempt. He loves you.

Born to be a Princess

Any sin through repentance can be forgiven. Repentance means saying sorry for what you did and promising to never do that sin again. Sexual intercourse is only for when you are married. Only because you sin, it does not mean that God does not love you. He loves everyone. God, is a merciful God. He understands that we will make bad choices sometimes. That why Jesus came down to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and return back to God. I do not look down on you because of what happened. And I think its wrong how your parents and others looked down at you as if you were a shame. Every person on earth is speacial to God and loved. God loves all that is pure and righteous. He gave us agency. He allows us to make our own choices. No one on earth is perfect so we can not look down on others because we are not perfect. Remember that in the new testament of the bible Jesus forgive the woman who committed adultery. You can be reborn after repentance.
