God, My Mother

God, our mother,

my mother,

When you formed me, incubated me

Was I apart of your being

did you speak in my voice

as I sometimes speak in yours?

Eating a meal you’d spit up the next day

Did you think, “I can’t wait to share this fruit, this sweet Kiwi with my daughter.”

Between the running flutters and slow pulsating beats there are moments in where our hearts sound at the same time.

I run in your blood and

your blood runs in me.

When your rhythm quicked, rain pouring down your back,

Did you say, “I can’t wait to share this with her.”
