Going Back

Location

I wish I could go back,

to the times when my biggest worry,

was how to tie my shoes,

and whether I wanted chocolate vanilla.

I wish I could go back,

to the place where my biggest mistakes

were stealing cookies out of Dad's treat stash,

and coloring outside the lines.

I wish I could go back

to playing dress up,

and kissing frogs

in hopes I'd find my prince.

I wish I could go back

to where my worst pain

was a scrape on my knee

that would only take a mother's kiss to heal.

I wish I could go back

to the times I thought

the worst things

were the monsters under my bed.

I wish I could go back

to when innocence

was still considered cute,

and not something to be given up so freely.
