Graduation

The light screams in my eyes, as I stand on the stage.

Today was the day, for it was Graduation day.

With a lump of stone lodged in my throat,

I take my first step stridding past the podiam.

Fear struck like lightning once realization hit.

"Today is my last day of being a kid.."

Tears stream down my face and I glance at the crowd.

I see my whole family, smiling, shouting, "We're so proud!"

Maybe this isn't as bad as it seems.

I mean, look at the woman I've grown up to be!

I snatch my diploma and march down the stage.

With my head held high, I would not be fazed.

Although I am scared and am worried about college,

I want to make a stand. To not be forgotten.

I wave to the crowd with a confident glow.

It is time to see just how far I can go.
