gravity

Location

i would rather fall

head over heels in love

with gravity

than spend another millisecond

falling for you.

because with gravity, i can be sure

of the shattering smash of the

glass dropped from the fourth floor balcony

but with you, i can never seem to

brace myself for the fall from

friends to lovers and back to friends

all in the matter of an hour.

you see, gravity never lies to me,

it never scrambles my thoughts or

leaves me dumb, speechless with

words slipping through my hands like water

cold to the touch

and no matter how tightly i cup my palms

no matter how closely i clench my fists,

i am left with insubstantial droplets,

my substance splattered like rainfall.

gravity is a loyal constant,

a given, unchanging.

my infatuation with your

childish indecisiveness can only

last so long

but gravity,

gravity i'd spend my life with.

because i'm starting to feel that

a ten story fall

ending with a certain awful crash

will somehow hurt less than

wallowing in your unpredictability.
