As of February 14, 2018, when an ex-student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida shot and killed 17 students, there were 1,624 mass shouting in 1,870 days in the country. That's nearly one mass shooting every single day in the past several years. American citizens own more than half of the 650 million civilian-owned guns worldwide. And while the United States makes up less than 5% of the world's populations , it holds 31% of global mass shooters.
