Harsh Realities

Location

I am dreaming

I’m scared and alone,

It’s dark in here

I hear footsteps,

They sound far away

But they are getting closer

…and closer… and closer.

A door opens a shadow appears,

“Mommy is that you?”

The shadow comes closer

… and closer…and closer…

then it stops.

All of the sudden there was a scream,

A ripping of clothes,

a slapping of skin,

a cry of release,

then silence.

The shadow man leaves,

And I cry and cry and cry

Till there is no more tears

And all there is left are memories

I just want to forget.

This has become my life,

I want to escape,

But I’m stuck.

I have accepted my fate.

I am no longer dreaming
