Have We Lived?

Have We Lived?

The blank faces, tear stained faces, the distant faces

All within a few short paces

Walking, swimming, running on

Insignificant like some worthless pawn

I watch them in the news each day

Thinking where exactly have they got to stay?

Struggling from day until night

Grasping at only moments of respite

Living through terrors and nightmares

They look at their lost ones with simply blank stares

Somalia, Syria, Afghanistan

Refugees scattering like water in a frying pan

I can only sit and look at the tele

Guiltily feeling the bulge of my belly

It is only now that I understand

The ease of the life in my hand

Lazy, teenage, boorish, disgrace

Life can never be lived in the same horrid pace

Our world
