On the Head of My Pin

Location

On the head of a pin we dance

On the edge of a knife we fall

The weight of day I bear on my shoulders

The evening reveals the day is done

My mind struggles to bear this burden

The battle with night has begun

Step to, the wind is howling

Step to, amend your fear

Step to, the rain is falling

Step to, the nights draws near

Two sides collide in my mind

The angels sing and the demons roar

I stand and watch with sullen eyes

As on my pin they rage their war

Step to, there's a choice to be made

Step to, you have to choose

Step to, the war is raging

Step to, one side must lose

My mind races, collides, and burns

Should I fight? Do I have a blade?

The edge of a knife lies below me

Before me the choice they have laid

Step to, the day is dying

Step to, or you may fall

Step to, the knife is shining

Step to, your pin grows small

Angels and demons before me rage

Day and nights in my heart collide

But the knife looms beneath them all

It seems I cannot choose a side

How many angels will dance on the head of my pin?

How many angels will fall on the edge of my knife?
