Heading to College

Though highschool's over, and proved to be grueling

I'm told that I'm not quite done with my schooling

I'm headed to a place where where I'll get no sleep

The classes start early and the books aren't cheap

But the sun shines high and the people aren't judges

They have good times and they don't hold grudges

High school was a burden and it caused this distress

But I tossed my cap and hit Refresh

While I made good friends and a girl even kissed me

I'm heading to a system where the odds aren't against me

My parents may cry and they may beg 'Stay!'

But the chicks leave the nest and the kids move away

Daddy says don't drink 'cause you know you'll hurl

Momma wants me to meet some cute southern girl

"Don't cause any trouble and obey your authorities"

"And whatever you do, stay away from sororities"

The first years were grueling, but I'm back in the gate.

And that, to me, is truly great

So now we're off! My faithful friends,

The old is done. The new begins

And when I'm all through and my college time ends

I'll look back and know that I'd do it again
