Heartbreak Sky

Trembling hands and bloodshot eyes

Slowly, their hands drift from one another

“This isn’t really happening!” she cries.

She grabs him, pulls him so tight.

And with a kiss that took her breath away,

He was gone, without a second glance.

She watched his plane part that heartbreak sky,

In disbelief, with only memories that remain.

All she could do was wait,

Wait for those letters of reassurance

That would never come.
