Help Wanted or Not?

Rising unemployment rates
Keep me up at night
I apply to many places, but when will they respond?

If there was one thing I could change about my life
I’d be able to work regardless of my lack of skill
I need the chance, need to get my foot in the door
Someday soon I hope that someone will

If the companies could lower their standards
Even by a little bit of room
Maybe I’d have had a job by now
And my student loans are due soon

They say “Help Wanted”,
Then add a list of near-impossible qualifications
If they were more honest instead of getting others hopes up,
Maybe there wouldn’t be so many angry, unemployed workers
