Her Beach Umbrella

Has anyone gone Carol-ing lately?
Have you bellowed out a tune?
Laced with rhythms and blues
Beats that dance on their own
Have you rhymed your time?
Redeeming the precious seconds
Of a new day
Every birth of sun rays
Shining on your face
Visiting the beautiful space
Are your eyes bright with expectation?
When you go Caol-ing
Written ballads leap
From cold pages
To heated hearts
Silent lives falling apart
Find comfort with each note
A treble clef*
Leading the pitch
Of a grand symphony
Humbly not acknowledging
That she
Distinguished from the crowd
Not causing much ruckus
Nor complaining real loud
Directs a vast orchestra
Finally enjoys the sound
Of Resounding memories
Tapping in the streets
On buses,  on trains and even planes
She opens her umbrella
Drives it into the sand
Carol laughs out loud
Smiling as the waves dance over her feet
New steps
Intentional strides
Refreshing destinations as she leaps...

*A clef (from French: clef "key") is a musical symbol used to indicate the pitch of written notes. Placed on one of the lines at the beginning of the stave, it indicates the name and pitch of the notes on that line.
