Hey

Location

What if today was the first and last time you met me?

Would you be able to have a conversation with me?

Would you be able to look past my complexion and my intonation?

Never once looking at the span of my hips

As an indication,

Of

Where

I'm

from...

Because I am you.

And you are me.

And we've all been

Fooled.

Decieved.

Into believing the

Lies

We are fed on a daily.

That tell us I am inferior

Due to the color of my skin.

That I am not beautiful

Because I have wide hips

And thighs that touch.

That I am unworthy

Because I am a woman who speaks her mind

But I challenge you

To look past all that

To break down the stereotypes

To come and say hello

Because we only need a bridge

That we can both cross and get over

Perhaps a few others would follow in stead

I've never give you a reason to think I would hurt you

Smiling each time you walk past

Laughing loudly and brightly

Because my light refuses to go dim

I just want to talk

Learn from you

As you learn from me

Because we are all imperfect

In our own special way

But that's what makes us

Beautiful.

Charming.

Funny.

Individual.

And when I learned that

My whole world opened up.

Because we're gonna fail.

But the goal is to

Fail.

Better.

The.

Next.

Time.

It's not about getting it right

Just about learning how to speak.

Hey!

Have a conversation with me?
